Trend Alert: Trailing Fabric

The cover girl look

The return of the 2000s is having consumers reminisce in the allure of the period’s celebrity and pop-star cult. Already indicated on SS21 runways as an edgy highlight at high-fashion brands like Prada or Blumarine, the train is making its way into commercial RTW and ceremony collections now. The  trailing effect does not make hold of tops and skirts either, open long tops, flowing sleeves or extra draped skirts are setting on the detail as well. Airy flounces and tails are giving fluidity to garments for a summery cover-girl effect. With show-stopping movement, the trending detail can be added to most styles for a distinctly chic or evening-ready upgrade. Searches confirm that those frivolous details are trending. Especially mini silhouettes with trains have seen an increase of +120%, while the trailing effect with long flounces has grown by +50%.
