The mob wife trend is taking over social media. The mob wife look that encourages animal prints, flashy jewelry and big fur coats seems to be the antidote to the past years clean girl and quiet luxury aesthetic. Rather than dressing simple and subdued, this trend opts for bold expressions; glamorous and loud dressing that is meant to stand out and display wealth. It appears to have started when a 28-year-old Kayla Trivieri shared a video online that proclaimed: “Clean girl is out; mob wife era is in, okay?”  And since then, #mobwifeaesthetics has already garnered over 52 millions views on TikTok -with videos both for and against the trend. Here, today’s creators are being acutely aware that hopping on a new aesthetic or trends as early as possible results in more virality and online engagement. And with fur at the centre of the trend, the bomb wife aesthetic is simultaneously raising questions about the sustainability of both real and faux fur again.
