SS23 Woman: Denim

It’s Denim Season. Denim is a distinct take-away from the recent SS23 runways. The fabric was featured in more than 891 looks and manifested an increase of +78% from the previous SS22 season. Total denim was showcased in 178 looks and rising with the same growth index. The tase for denim certainly relates to the big influence of Y2K and grunge on the shows. This stylistic influence did not just impact the visibility of denim as a material choice but affected the shapes as well. Closely linked to the Y2K influence, glitters and tea-bag washes showed-off as highlights for denim treatments, while mini skirts, low rise-boot-cuts and fitted trucker jackets define new silhouettes. Coming from a grunge universe, distressing and street-art updates meet baggy shapes and XL slouchy jean jackets for the right fit. A fashion-forward SS23 option is certainly showing-off in fully-slitted pants as seen at Versace or the patchwork, mermaid and column skirts or frayed denim pieces that are constructed into neatly paneled products.
