Rethinking the Classics. For SS23 we certainly see a great number of classic styles facing continuous reinterpretations and updates. The shoulder bag remains the stand-out, distancing a bit from the intense 2000s spirit of previous seasons with a subtly modernist allure. Here, wavy styles, trapeze shapes and especially a modular biker look are taking the scene. Other icons include the frame bag, which already made its big comeback last season and is now explored even more widely. Similarly, the camera and saddle bag, as well as distinctly chic hobos are defining other timeless styles for SS23 investment pieces. The continuation of the circular shape is opposing the angular play of box and trapeze styles for a fully balanced season. Another big highlight are more literal goodie and toy styles, that range from drinks and food to teddy bears. Those ironic pieces render the season more childish and can be commercially translated into fun charms. From punked-up studding and rebellious fringe to romantic beads and delicate volumes, it is a season of paradox.
