SS22 Top Prints

Fresh air for classic favorites!

For SS22 designers have chosen to concentrate on more classical patterns for their assortments. Florals and stripes took the lead, as most represented patterns across the shows. Nevertheless, creatives aimed at reinventing or boosting such classics, which is how bold almost digital florals and colorful stripe designs have been able to add a sense of novelty to the season’s looks. With a focus on creativity and impulsive joy, artsy designs have kept their position as some of the top graphics, even after the diy-craze of the lockdown starts to fade away.

SS22 presented a total of 3211 looks, showing a slight 7% increase compared to the past SS21 season.

Graphical prints appear as a constant favorite, while SS22 tends to favor more abstract and color blocking designs here. Geometrics are remaining a core style, ginghams and monograms are also stepping into such a clear, repetitive look in order to sooth consumers with a sense of familiarity. Playing with formas well, psychedelic styles are remaining from the pandemic’s 70s upheaval and appeal to our visual senses with mood-altering effects. The most reflective print of the season is by far the butterfly. The animal has appeared as an early sign across the past fashion week, however for SS22, the huge influence of Y2K has sky-rocketed butterfly designs all over the runways. The butterfly is not just a symbol for girliness, but stands for transformation and renewal, beauty and freedom – all concepts that have manifested their importance within designer’s visions.
