SS22 Top Colors

A taste for the rainbow.

There is no doubt that SS22 has explored the power of colors in their most extensive form. Looking at the shows, bold-colors have been quantitatively positioned far beyond runners-up pastels and neutrals. Compared to pastels, bold colors have been 3 times as present. And bold really means bold this season! The juicy color hues tap into neon gradations and embrace a digitally-friendly character. With numerous fully colored looks, whether in sets or couture-like gowns, the highlighter shades stood out even more dramatically. Consequently, the vibrant energy of such colorful styles is perfectly resonating with an overall joyous and empowering seasonal mood. Along all of the tacky-dubbed 00s renaissance looks, bubblegum pinks have taken the astonishing lead on the catwalks. The color remarkably outpaced classical shades like navy, black and beige, in terms of featured styles. Similarly, the fixation on nature-themes put all the shades of green on a veritable second spot of summer’s most-visible colors. Explorer khakis, juicy limes and indulgent emeralds all had their place within the range of green assortments. Yellow made comparably dominant statements in its entire palette, ranging from butter shades to warming sunflower tones. The enchanting effect of the yellow color appears to provide a positive and easy feel for a still uncertain future.

Ready for shimmering nightlife, metallics have been another color stand-out of the season. SS22 collections were filled with shimmering finishings to resonate a sense of preciousness and value or to create a youthful effect of glitz and glam. As an alternative to balck, aubergine tones and truffled browns offer a lighter and more warming alternative in order to stay in line with the season’s key sentiments of light-hearted joy and fun. Pastels have outrun classic neutrals, but their rather washed-out and subtly pigmented variations almost create a disguise for beiges, so called “faux-beiges”.
