Millenium Chic –  This report features the trending pieces across current retail assortments and highlight the trend with the highest growth YOY. The selection captures the desire to delve back into a nostalgia for the 2000s, but maintains a versatile look. Currently the strongest piece are cropped shirts & blouses, mostly in classic style choices, to recreate the revisited academia aesthetic that was pushed by MiuMiu. For bottoms, baggier cargo and parachute pants are a hot piece and draw on streetwear references yet seem presented in a distinctly stylish interpretation now. Top products for pants are commonly focusing on wider silhouettes, ranging form tailored  trousers to baggy denims that are certainly the new it-staple. More trendy, bootcut denims are feeling more feminine and subtly sexy and respond to those, who look for the Y2K spirit yet favor slimmer silhouettes over slouchy wides. The bustier is still growing and offers a fitted counterpart to the trending baggy and wider bottoms. Now, even more commercial cohorts are beginning to integrate bustier elements, while the piece remains strong for fashion clients as well, by moving into fall with options for layering and statement looks.

Rather suitable for the younger generation and certainly a product with a short sales period for winter, the cropped shirt could not be missed in the assortments of trendiest brands, given its strong visibility on Instagram. It will work in layering for winter and certainly be back in spring on its own with an interesting commercial return. The growth rate shows the strong adoption of the trend, which is also reflected in the tops in general where the crop style grows by 171%.

Cargo skirt were the it-skirt of Destiny’s Child in their Survivor era and now it is booming as a Gen-Z favorite. The style shows a strong growth in visibility across the market, we’ve seen a +740% spike in searches for cargo skirts, from last year and +425% from the beginning of 2022.
