FW22 The Nordic Trend Breeze

For AW22 Copenhagen Fashion week has presented itself more vibrant than ever and promises to keep the energized spirit of the summer season encapsulated for a colder time as well. On the danish ride of positivity, sustainability and inclusivity have been a core focus and demonstrate how people are collaborating to shift the world towards an improved tomorrow. In the upcoming year, Copenhagen Fashion Week will go greener and new laws are underway for SS23 to safeguard sustainable commitments. This season, the danish capital already went green in a more literal way, with dopamine-dressing neon colors, especially green, have been a favorite across the shows and fashion crowds. The signs for this blindingly bold takeover have been here for quite some time. With the rise of retro futurism and inspiration from the 1960s obsession with space and tech, neon colors, as well as metallics, are on a recognizable high.

The traditional Scandinavian look, that is traditionally equated with anything minimalist, is experiencing a bold 360° turnover.

Now, a full-out maximalism presents us with color and print clashes, creative layers and an anything-goes mindset. The open-minded and liberal approach to fashion connects to the value shifts surrounding identity and inclusivity. Consequently, body positivity was a key theme on the catwalks in Copenhagen, with the number of plus-size models walking the shows being particularly noticeable. And the new curves were ready to be shown off as roughing and sexy knitwear took over, making the cozy season not boring at all. At the same time, some perennial pieces remained. Versatile, business casual ready sets and tunic-type dresses, as well as short tailoring sets have shown their contemporary but multi-occasion appeal.

Scandinavian Fashion on the radar!

These are the highlight trends from Copenhagen Fashion Week. As seen above the Scandinavian fashion capital is managing to integrate fresh twists to beloved staples of the past season. Sets are updated with long-lasting denims and a genderless look, while several dresses for multi-occasions are showing off across the runways. From tunics to deep Vs, those versatile garments embrace the minimalist core of Scandinavian fashion. More innovativere, they are layered in creative ways, styled with XL Scarfs or updated with pleats and digital prints. Sexy knits and seductive roushing are also strong favorites for a body positive crowd. Short tailoring sets and bombers are menswear essentials and integrate an empowered and casual feel into the dressy wardrobe of the moment. The energized and strong looks of Copenhagen FW are anticipating the design directions of young talent and paths for awaiting market trends throughout the next seasons.
