FW22 Must Haves: Outerwear

Catchy Cover-Ups

The winter season is shaping antithetic trends for the outerwear category. The focus on millennials is not ready to subside, which is why extra-cropped styles are still dominating the runways, and they are now accompanied by incredibly long Y2K cardigans and fur-trimmed coats. Paradoxically, volumes seem to grow in different directions for FW22: with oversize looks turning into eccentric voluminous shapes on one hand and tailoring enhancing the slim-fit look on the other. Outerwear is no place for subtle experimentation and sets the stage for a parade of re-invented looks and new proposals. An interesting focus of the shows were shoulders: statement blazers made the look of the season with a great variety of original styles that show how approaches tailoring after #staycation moods. It now becomes an important item to restore and re-collect after the loungewear invasion.
