PRINTS & PATTERNS BY GROWTH INDEX

Bet on the right prints

By analyzing quantitatively the SS2020 catwalk prints, the most common trends are always floral, checks and animal print. This means that these trends will be present in the market, and reassuring for the customer, because they have had some growth in recent seasons.
But to detect the novelties and therefore the prints that will be more fashionable for spring summer 2020, it is necessary to look at the evolutions in relation to the past seasons.
Now the tropical and jungle trend is at the top of the list! Its growth rate is 1067%, which will make it a remarkable print for the summer. Then, while the animal print is decreasing, the zebra  is in the spotlight with a 194% increase compared to SS19. Another booming print is the paisley, thanks to a very beautiful Etro SS20 collection and the Saint Laurent SS20 collection which treated this design in a night version. The floreal motifs are in fourth position, thanks to the white background print. While the polka dots are declining, the black and white polka dots, which play on mini/maximum volumes, are up by 22%. The checks also evolve in wider and clearer patterns, but the trend alert is more likely to be on the gingham.
The numbers on the left represent the numbers of outfits in the fashion shows with the characteristic described and the percentage on the right, the variation compared to the SS19 catwalks. The graph illustrates the trend over three consecutive seasons.
