Nylon is back

Mixing 2000 style and sustainable spirit

Prada’s nylon, which was wildly popular in the late 90s and early 2000s has seen a return in popularity over the last year and a half and rightfully so—it’s both stylish and incredibly durable. Ten years later Prada has reissued one of its most iconic nylon styles: Prada Re-Edition 2000.
Beloved by celebs that were just babies when the bag was first introduced, Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner have both been spotted carrying the original version of this bag, making it a no-brainer for Prada to reissue. True to its name, this classic bag first launched in 2000 and immediately became a fan favourite due to its baguette-like shape and nylon material, which at the time was all the rage.

Covid-19 has prevented the trend from flourishing but now we see that Gucci with its off-the-grid line has also launched a line of Econyl bags and backpacks. In fact, using this eco-sustainable material, which is really becoming a must, the nylon bags are about to have their moment of glory again. in fact, the influencers had already shown off their Prada during the FW20 fashion week, but now we see the famous nylon bags pop up spontaneously in the Instagram looks. Prada also launch Re-Edition 2005 for Fall Winter 2020.

Over the past two years handbag lovers have been blessed with the resurgence of some of the best bags from the last two decades. While some brands have chosen to dig into their archives for inspiration, designing new bags that mix modernity with elements from bags of the past tied in, other designers have opted to bring back specific bags altogether.
Today we detect a need for reassurance and a certain nostalgia that comes with these remakes of iconic products. We can also see the same thing in the Netflix series, which underlines the fact that the new generations are fond of the must-haves of the past.
