FW 2021 : Must-Have Details

Minimalism to Maximalism

For FW 21 new elevated basics and must-have flamboyant styles are similarly demanding for an extensive amount of detail to level-up garments with that special twist. Subsequently it comes as no surprise that FW21 is a season of details and trims.

Cut outs keep increasing for FW21, and remain a big trend. This detail is adopted in repeated mini-laser cut outs with a futuristic touch or expressing a new type of femininity through their revealing properties. Another detail embracing the concept of empowerment is a focus on the shoulders. Whether those are bold power shoulders, as represented in 625 look, or the new bulbous shoulder that feels reminiscent of iconic Balenciaga styles. Latter have experienced an increase of 123% from the past season and add a surprisingly fresh element to the season.

Big collars had their momentum this winter, with the social media confirming its relevance via early adoptions. This season, the tendency to dramatic styles and hunger for culture induced this detail with a historical update. The continuous demand for over-the keyboard dressing is represented in the 180% growth from last year, but the FW21 collar seems to be a last call trend.

Focusing on all the details linked to the influx of flamboyant party-wear and more eccentric styles, the Bejeweled trend is one of the top trends experiencing a 28% increase compared to the last season. Crystals, chains, pearls and beads are expressing joyful opulence and ping-pong between preppy and tacky styles. Relevant highlight looks also featured feathers and fringes, stable details, which add a layer of movement and call for the roaring twenties and glam to come back.
